Unfortunately I didn't know Jimmy well. But I remember him being a very cheerful guy. And that Corvette he drove was awesome!!!
Tribute #2 by Kathy Morrison Mullens Gee, where to start? He was my boyfriend in 1976-77 and I too loved his little red corvette! Jimmy, Stan McCabe, Carol Campbell (class of 1979 and who recently died of cancer) would all cruise around in that car! Talk about a tight squeeze! But, it was so much fun! We did like to party in those days and I have such fond memories of driving through the snow (definitely not in the corvette!) to sleigh ride at Edgewood Country Club. Or going to parties on the hill, visiting friends, going to concerts, etc. And sometimes just staying at our respective homes and watching TV. I thought Jimmy would never ask me out because he was so very shy. And every day I would make a special effort to speak to him in homeroom! Sometimes I would tease him just to get him to blush. Which was often! I absolutely thought he had the most beautiful eyes in the world! When he finally got the courage to ask me out I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. He called me the week before my 18th birthday and asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I was so flabbergasted that the only thing I could think of was the upcoming concert. It was Black Oak Arkansas and Black Sabbath! And I didn't even like heavy metal. He somehow managed to get tickets and took me. However, we didn't stay for the whole concert because it was sooooo loud and crowded! We dated through the entire school year and then he went off to WVU. He died tragically in a car accident when coming home for Christmas break his first year at WVU. I see Jimmy's parents every so often (they are really wonderful people!) and Jimmy's dad still carries our prom picture in his wallet! I will always carry a part of Jimmy with me. He was very sweet, giving, loving and an extremely smart person and I still miss him! Kathy Morrison Mullens (Wow, was it destiny that I marry a Mullens?)
