A NOTE FROM DEBBIE OTEY:
THE 25 YEAR SJHS CLASS REUNION on July 26-28, 2002
(some of the following is out-of-date)

The University of Charleston (UC) Coffee Tavern has been booked for Friday, July 26, 2002 and the Charleston House Holiday Inn for the next night. We have a committee together and are working to get up-to-date addresses and finalize plans. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated - please put your comments on the guest book or email one or all of the committee members. See our "Missing" page for a list of people for whom we do not have current physical or email addresses.  We would appreciate your help in locating them. A survey will be posted in the near future so please take the time to complete it and register for our automated emails. Please respond one way or the other.

To those of you interested in helping, please contact me (Debbie Otey).  We won't turn down any help you can offer. If you can help in any small way we'd appreciate it. Barbara Landers, who did not attend any of our past reunions, has already been a great help.  She has made numerous phone calls and is willing to do anything delegated to her.  (Thanks Barbara!)  Contact Barbara here.  Barry Conner, who ALSO has not yet attended any of our reunions, has offered to set up this web page for us and he has done a great job (Thanks Barry!). It is constantly evolving and is updated often so bookmark it and check it often.

It is evident that there is enough interested to have a reunion. Having done this before I think UC is by far the best place to do the Friday mixer. We did it there before and it worked well. Then at midnight those who still want to party can go elsewhere. My thoughts about Saturday are just that - my thoughts only - but I'll give you my thoughts behind wanting to have it at a hotel. We did the country club last time and we weren't ready to quit but it was going to cost us $300 an hour to keep the party going there. We didn't have that kind of money. Additionally, we can get a block of rooms at the Charleston House with a discounted rate ($69 a night) and keep our party going there and this will cut down on drinking and driving too. I need input about Sunday. I thought Putt Putt was really good last time as it entertained kids of all ages and we want classmates to bring their kids/grandkids and show them off!!! However, we have tentatively booked the University of Charleston Coffee Tavern and the indoor pool and we may have video game contests and board games in the loung. Do you think your children would be interested in any of these activities? What would your children be interested in doing? PLEASE, we need your suggestions.

Again I will interject MY THOUGHTS - this will be a 25 year reunion for the class of 77 but we will be happy to have people from other classes/schools attend.  For instance many of our close friends may have been older or younger, but if they were your friends and they want to join us, we'll welcome them.  Also there were people who graduated from other high schools but we spent years with them in junior high and/or high school.

Please be verbal and offer input.  I can't stress enough that your ideas and input are essential to a well planned weekend.  Hope everyone is looking forward to it and I hope to hear from you soon.  The sooner the better.

P.S. Please pass the word and send me email addresses and once again, send me your ideas and feedback.
